Who is Prof. Baumgard?
Originally from Minnesota, he grew up on a pig and row-crop farm. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Minnesota and his Ph.D. from Cornell University. Currently, he is a Norman Jacobson Professor in the Department of Animal Science at Iowa State University. Since 2005, his research has focused on the physiological and endocrine effects of heat stress and immune activation in livestock, with a strong emphasis on nutritional and metabolic physiology to optimize animal health and production.
